A hardhearted miser named Lykourgos is confronted by three unexpected spirits on Christmas Eve, leading him to rediscover his lost humanity and embrace a life shaped by love and generosity.
On Christmas Eve, Lykourgos, an 80-year-old miserly businessman, lives alone, cut off from compassion, generosity, and human connection. Cold, rigid, and resentful of the festive spirit around him, he clings to wealth and routine, refusing even the smallest gesture of kindness.
That night, however, his carefully controlled world begins to crack. The spirit of his recently deceased business partner appears, followed by three mysterious apparitions who confront him with the life he has chosen to forget: moments of youthful generosity, buried guilt, moral compromises, and the slow erosion of his humanity. As the ghosts guide him through fragments of his past, present, and possible future, Lykourgos is forced to face the emotional cost of his isolation and greed.
Set against the wintry landscapes of Epirus, the film offers a tender, faith-tinged reimagining of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, transforming the classic parable into a Greek family drama about memory, responsibility, and the fragile possibility of redemption. Through quiet encounters and painful realizations, Lykourgos begins a slow and uneasy return to compassion, discovering that even the hardest heart may still remember how to love.
